Armed robbers pistol whip man, steal $50K, then shoot at responding officers in Harris Co.

A Harris County man was pistol whipped in his home by five to ten armed men who reportedly stole more than $50,000 from the home, then fired at responding officers Monday night.

The Houston Chronicle reports three children, a teenager and two children younger than 10, escaped the robbers and went to a neighbor’s home. The home contained large quantities of drugs as well as the large amount of cash.

About 6 p.m. Monday, a girl called police from a home in the 10000 block of Rosbrook Court near the Greenspoint area and said her father was being beaten by armed men, Harris County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Cedrick Collier told the Chronicle.

Harris County Sheriff’s deputies responding to the call about the home invasion and robbery were met with at least 20 to 30 rounds of gunfire; however, no one was injured.
