An armed masked man entered a movie theater in Germany Thursday, took several hostages and was later killed by German police.
Sources say the man was shot and killed by German special police officers after they stormed the cinema complex in Viernheim in the Hesse region. His hostages escaped without injury.
According to German media, the man was wearing a ski-type mask, carrying combat boots and a “long weapon” with a munition belt on his shoulder.
Witnesses told media the man fired at least four shots when he entered the theater.
