ABILENE, Texas (AP) — An 18-year-old woman and her 22-year-old boyfriend have been charged with murder in the death of the woman’s newborn daughter, whose body was found hidden in an Abilene home.

In a statement Tuesday, Abilene police said they’ve charged Amber Craker and Damian Cate with murder and felony evidence tampering in the death of the unnamed child.

Police say the severely bleeding woman arrived Monday morning at Hendrick Hospital in Abilene. Medical personnel determined that she had delivered a full-term baby within the previous few hours but had not arrived with an infant, so they contacted police.

Police went to a residence, found tissue remains in the sewer of the residence and later found hidden in the house the body of an infant who showed signs of trauma.
