American Plains Artists Show returns to Fort Concho

The American Plains Artists Show will make its return to Fort Concho National Historic Landmark with an opening reception June 30.

The show will feature 92 paintings and 18 sculptures by 61 artists from across the nation. The event is planned from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 30 in the Quartermaster Building at Burgess Street and East Avenue C.

FiddleFire Catering will provide western-themed refreshments and members of the Concho Cowboy Company will be present wearing period clothing.

The art exhibit will be available for viewing from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sundays. The exhibit is free and open to the public. It will be open through Aug. 7.

Guests can vote for their favorite piece of artwork at the exhibit. A “people’s choice” award will be announced after the end of the show in August.

Each of the works of art is available for purchase with portions of the proceeds benefiting the American Plains Artists organization, Fort Concho and the artist.
