Abilene newspaper apologizes for running “Republicans’ New World Order” ad

The publisher of the Abilene Reporter-News issued a message in Thursday’s newspaper apologizing for an advertisement that was printed for the Republicans’ “New World Order”, which is said to begin Jan. 20, 2017, and sponsored by such names as Vladimir Putin, Republicons, the Klu Klux Klan and white supremacists.

The advertisement was published in Wednesday’s “A” section of the Reporter-News. Publisher Jeff DeLoach, who is also the publisher of the San Angelo Standard-Times, ran his message in Thursday’s edition saying he found the ad to be “offensive and absolutely not representative of our community, and certainly not representative of our (your) hometown newspaper.”

DeLoach went on to say that there are checks and balances to minimize such things from happening and apologized for the “human error,” saying he was not aware the ad was scheduled to run.

There was no immediate information on who actually placed the ad. Readers took to the “reviews” section of the publication’s Facebook page to express distaste for the printing of the advertisement.
