20-year old man dies in one-vehicle crash early Wednesday

A 20-year old Santa Fe, Texas, man died early Wednesday morning in a one-vehicle crash on FM 1692 and U.S. Highway 67, five miles north of San Angelo.  According to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Mathew David Freeman, was pronounced dead Wednesday by Justice of the Peace Kay Longest.

The release stated that at approximately midnight, Freeman was traveling southbound in a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 on FM 1692 when he approached the intersection at U.S. 67. Freeman had been consuming alcohol, the release said, and disregarded a stop sign. He then traveled across U.S. 67, hit a windmill and rolled the vehicle.

Freeman was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash was investigated by Trooper Dustin Henderson, Highway Patrol/San Angelo. The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the call. San Angelo Fire Department paramedics also responded to the scene.

Freeman’s next-of-kin have been notified.
