2-vehicle collision slows traffic at intersection of Freeland Ave. and Howard Street

A two-vehicle collision occurred just before 4:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Freeland Avenue and Howard Street when a red Dodge Ram pickup traveling southbound on Howard Street hit a white Chevrolet Impala traveling eastbound on Freeland Avenue.

The Impala struck and rolled on top of a Suddenlink cable box. AEP was called to briefly shut off power before the vehicle was towed.

“The driver of the Dodge Ram said he entered the intersection on a green light,” Officer John Palmer said at the scene. “But what I’ve got it two independent witnesses that indicate that the Dodge Ram ran the red light.”

Both drivers suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

Citations were issued to the driver of the Dodge for disregarding a red light and driving while license invalid.
