2 students, 1 teacher reported injured in S. Carolina elementary school shooting

Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Sheila Cole confirmed a shooting was reported at Townville Elementary School where two students and a teacher have been reported injured. 



According to CNN, two children and a teacher were shot by a gunman at the elementary school. The two students were sent to a local trauma center and the teacher was also hospitalized, said Taylor Jones, a spokesman for Anderson County Emergency Management.

The suspected teenage shooter is in custody and the severity of the injuries are unknown at the moment, said Jones.

According to multiple sources, law enforcement vehicles lined the driveway and armed officers were on scene at the elementary school at approximately 2 p.m. Officers could be seen walking the roof of the school as other deputies cleared the building, also two helicopters landed in the field by the school.

The students were evacuated by bus to Oakdale Baptist Church in Townville where family members are being directing to pick up their children.

Anderson County Coroner’s Office is headed three miles away from the school to a death which was reported, officials say it is connected with the incident at the school.
